Kaitiakitanga · Guardianship

Aotearoa’s e-waste challenge.

The Ministry for the Environment estimates New Zealand produces 80,000–101,000 tonnes of e-waste every year, and that around 98% ends up in landfill or is disposed of improperly. E-waste is a declared priority product, but a regulated product-stewardship scheme is still being developed — which makes reuse-first recycling a practical way to act now.
